You Know, for Kids: New Books: A Butterfly Is Patient

FIRST:  Listen to the story!

Learn interesting facts about butterflies and see beautiful illustrations of so many different varieties! What is something that you did not know about butterflies?

A butterfly feeder is easy to make and a great way for kids to learn about nature.


THEN: Follow the directions in the link above!  Incorporate fine motor skills by stringing beads on yarn to hang the feeder; create a pattern with the beads (ABAB; AABB; etc.)!  Talk about what kinds of food the butterfly might enjoy eating and why!  Try an experiment with different types of food! Which ones do you think they will eat?  See what kinds of butterflies enjoy your snacks!  What color butterflies did you see the MOST? I would love to hear your results and see pictures!
